Genus Luxurious parrots - Polytelis - belongs to the wax-billed group. The genus unites 3 types of parrots: the Alexandrina parrot, named after the Princess of Wales, the Barrabanda parrot and the mountain parrot. All of them are united by a similar structure — long wings and a narrow long tail.

* parrot Alexandrina (blue-capped) - Polytelis alexandre
* mountain parrot - Polytelis anthopeplus
* luxurious drumstick or thyroid parrot - Polytelis swainsoni

Except for the breeding season, these parrots do not form mass gatherings, there are usually about 100 birds in a flock. Of landscapes, he prefers open spaces such as steppes, with rare groups of trees. In recent decades, they have increasingly become companions of civilization, choosing parks and gardens of cities and villages as their place of residence. When the crop of cereal crops matures, flocks of parrots switch to feeding on them and cause significant damage to the crop. For this reason, people are even forced to regulate their numbers, up to and including shooting.
